چکیده

It occurs in 15% to 32% of cases and the cause of the recurrence is usually unknown, although in some cases it may be traced to viral infection or may be a consequence of coronary artery bypass grafting1. The optimal method for prevention has not been fully established; accepted modalities include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids, colchicines, immunosuppressive agents, and pericardiectomy. In present review, we discuss the aetiopathogenesis, clinical manifestations, prognosis and management of recurrent pericarditis.

Post-transplant recurrent pericarditis with pericardial tamponade is successfully treated with colchicine: A case report

Recurrent pericarditis is a rare complication following renal transplantation. Colchicine, an inhibitor of microtubule polymerization, has been recommended for the treatment of recurrent acute pericarditis in non-transplant patients and is commonly used for the treatment of gout in transplant patients. However, the use of colchicine for the treatment of recurrent pericarditis in renal transplan...

Acute Recurrent Pericarditis Accompanied by Graves' Disease

The etiology of acute pericarditis is often thought to be autoimmune, and Graves' disease has been reported in a few series to manifest as acute pericarditis. Since the etiology of recurrent pericarditis is known to be more associated with autoimmune causes, recurrent acute pericarditis may be a potential cardiovascular complication of Graves' disease. We report a case of recurrent acute perica...

A minimal symptom-free interval of 4 to 6 weeks after the index attack is ...

Corticosteroids for recurrent pericarditis: high versus low doses: a nonrandomized observation.

BACKGROUND Corticosteroid use is widespread in recurrent pericarditis, even if rarely indicated, and high doses (eg, prednisone 1.0 to 1.5 mg . kg(-1) . d(-1)) are generally recommended, although only weak evidence supports their use with possible severe side effects. The aim of this work was to compare side effects, recurrences and other complications, and hospitalizations of a low- versus hig...
